Public School 65, ca. 1930. The original section of this school building was constructed circa 1870 by an unknown architect. In 1889, the school, which was suffering from overcrowding, was extensively renovated under the direction of James Naughton, Superintendent of School Buildings in Brooklyn. Public School 65 remained in operation through the 21st century. Today a new Public School 65 operates nearby on Jamaica Avenue, while this building is home to Achievement First ENY, a charter school.
