Dawn Redwood Tree
Post
The massive dawn redwood located at 151 Willow Street in Brooklyn Heights is an exotic species originally from China. Dawn redwoods are an ancient relative of the giant sequoia and redwood trees of California and were thought to be extinct until the 1940's when a few survivors were found in a remote valley in China. Seedlings were imported to North America, including this one, which has grown to over 100 feet tall.
