On May 4, 1947 a visiting team called Hapoel from what was then the British Mandate of Palestine, played a New York all star team at Yankee Stadium. Between 43,000 and 53,000 people attended the game, making it one of the biggest crowds in the history of US soccer to that point. The match ended in 2-0 in favor of the the visitors.
