Manhattan: 5th Avenue - 34th Street (1) Fifth Avenue, east side (buildings thereupon), at E. 34th Street (center intersection). The photographer is viewing northeastward across the Empire State Building site, from a point to the west of the Avenue on W. 33rd Street. Occupyin2 the 34th-35th Street frontage is B. Altman's department store. Across the roof of same appears the upper portion of the Combustion Engineering Building on Madison Avenue. In the loft background is the Lincoln Building. P. L. Altman & Co. department store; the buildings in the foreground are at he southeast corner of the intersectfon.
