Manhattan: 4th Avenue - 16th Street
Fourth Avenue, east side, north from and including 16th Union Square East. Of the old buildings 36-48 Unioin Square East, from 16th to 17th Streets, the Westmoreland Apartments on the corner of 17th Street, and 44 adjoining them, are about to be demolished for the new Tammany Hall (see Union Square East).
From 17th to 18th Streets stand the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America Building and the Clarendon Building, (the latter named after the Clarendon Hotel which it replaced), both built prior to 1910. The 20-story American Woolen Building is on the N.E. corner of 18th Street and the 20-story Nagle Building on the S.E. corner of 21st Street.
