Newtown - Jarvis Jackson House - Forest Hills

Jarvis Jackson House - Built in 1820 by carpenter Thorne of Glen Cove just to the east of the original Jackson Homestead, which was destroyed by fire. On the north side of Jackson Lane (now 66th Road), just west of 110th St. Jarvis Jackson was a member of the N.Y. Assembly 1835-37. Ascan Backus eventually acquired the house and farm, and later it went to J.D. Backus (1890s). Photo taken April 1923.
