504-506 Broome Street, 1939. These two Federal style buildings on the northwest corner of Broome and West Broadway, which were not in the best shape when this photograph was taken, are no longer standing. Gone too, of course, is the elevated line that ran next to them on West Broadway. According to the SoHo Historic District Extension Designation Report no. 376 West Broadway is the same plot as 504-506 Broome, and in 1993 a one-story garage was replaced with the three-story stucco building that now stands on this corner.

Manhattan: Broome Street - West Broadway (1) 5l4, 512, 510-508, 506, 504 Broome Street, north side, west of adjoining, and at West Broadway, at the triangular plaza where Watts Street joins Broome. February 12, 1928. P. L. Sperr. (2) The same, not including Nos. 506 and 504. The loft building dates back around 1900. The frame-sided dormer windows, on the two remaining old houses -- the ones at the corner of Thompson Street were demolished aound 1923 -- would lead one to guess they are of frame construction; but they are brick. 1932 or 1933. J. Clarence Davies Collection, Museum of the City of New York. Negative No. 559.
