St. James Church

St. James Episcopal Church. The church later moved to 84-07 Broadway. The building was still standing in 2014.
hand written on back of print: Rev Evan Malbone Johnson b 1792 was rector of this church from 1816 till March 1827 when he removed to Brooklyn + built St Johns Church in Brooklyn St James Chapel PE erected 1735 s.e. corner of Broadway + Maurice Av (now 51st Ave) with church edifice until 1848 when a new one was erected on a new site. The steeple on the west end was torn down about 1900 small burying ground in rear Newtown 1922
