View of the south west side of Union Square. Shows the equestrian statue of Geroge Washington, modeled by Henry Kirke Brown and unveiled in 1856. It is the first public sculpture erected in New York City since the equestrian statue of George III in 1770, and the first American equestrian sculpture cast in bronze. Parked cars pictured in a triangle near the statue. Several moving cars, buses and pedestrians can be seen on 14th Street, along with a view of Ohrbach's department store. Amalgamated Bank can be seen on Union Square West, in addition to several businesses related to the garment industry, such as the Manhattan Corset Co., London Buttons, and Union-Made Headlight Overalls & Trousers.
