Newtown - Remsen House - Rego Park

Remsen House - East side of Old Trotting Course Lane (Woodhaven Blvd.), about a block north of Metropolitan Ave. Abraham Remsen settled here circa 1700, he died in 1752. Jeromus Remsen Sr. bought his father's farm in 1735, and died here in 1781. His son Col. Jeromus Remsen (1735-1790) also lived here. It was the Weeden Homestead circa 1835-1860s, then the Kinsey family and related Leibrock family lived here. Newman, a builder, tore down the house in 1925.
