The New York Times of June 14, 1939, reportsathe sale for improvement of the corner property and the adjoining three structures on 37th Street. Cromorising same are the Charles Coster house (50 Pnrk Avenue), the former home of General Charles P. Roe of the N. Y. S. N. G. (No. 35 E. 37th Street), the Cortlandt F(e1d Bishop home (No. 33 E.) and the Issac W. How home (No. 31 E.). The latter was sold by the estate nf William M. Savin and No's 33
and 35 by Miss Sarah Ahern.
At the extreme left of View 1 is the National Democratic Club, located at the N. E. corner (Gf E. 37th Street and Madison Avenue. View No. 2 is westward on 37th Street while No. 3 fs southwestward to include the Union League Club (1931) at the S. W.
corner and opposite this new project.
Overhead appears the tower of the Empire State Building and a cornice of the Engineering Combustion Building.
