Newtown - Moore House - Elmhurst

Moore House - Rear view, Broadway at 45th Ave. Capt. Samuel Moore (d. 1717) built the center section in 1666, his son Benjamin Moore (d.1750) enlarged it in 1710, John Moore (1730-1827) then owned it. Capt. Daniel Sackett Moore died here 1828, his son John Jacob Moore died here in 1879, and John Moore Perry died here 1914. The Perry's owned the farm into the 1920s; it was torn down in the 1930s for subway construction. It is the now Moore Homestead Playground in a smaller footprint.
