Spirits soar on liberation day

Caption: "Spirits soar on liberation day--After 191 days of homework, examinations, report cards, teachers and textbooks, first-graders at P. S. 5 [located at Tillary Street and Bridge Street] report for the last 'shape-up' of school year and follow their teacher, Mary Cox, to freedom. Brooklyn streets echoed with jubilant shouts of youngsters yesterday when the school bell sounded for the last time until Sept. 14."
