Newtown - Moore House - Elmhurst

Moore House - looking south along Broadway from Britton Ave., showing the barns and outbuildings behind the house. The oldest portion of the house was built by Capt. Samuel Moore, Son of Rev. John Moore in 1666 (1663?), with the final additions by Lt. Samuel Moore in 1760. The house was still on 5 1/2 acres in the 1920s, and was owned by the Perry family decedents of the Moore's. The home was demolished in the 1930s for subway construction. It is the now Moore Homestead Playground in a smaller footprint.
