Manhattan: Broadway - 47th Street (West)
1570-1564 Broadway, at and adjoining the S.E. corner of West 47th Street. The 2-story building comprises a double lot, Nos. 1570-1568, with the 11-story office building, No. 1564 adjoining. The Palace Theatre, a former vaudeville house now (1937), shows only motion pictures. Considering all the former aspirations of variety players to perform at this house, motion pictures are a tragedy. The theatre actually is in the 5-story building at the rear of both of these lots; with an entrance and lobby through the office building. These buildings, geographically on Seventh Ave., form a part of Times Square and bear Broadway numbers.
October 1, 1933.
