Jeremiah Casey House

Newtown - Mrs. Raymond's House - Elmhurst

Mrs. Raymond's House (1873) - Later Jeremiah Casey's House (1891). Old address 49 Queens Blvd., north side - nearly opposite Homans Ave. (now 55th Road). Jeremiah Casey was born in 1847 in Ireland and came to Newtown in 1850, for years he was the village blacksmith at the corner of Grand St. (Broadway) and the current 45th Ave. Casey retired in 1912 and died Sept. 6, 1917. The house appears to be abandoned in this photo, which was probably taken shortly before the house was moved to 91-44 Queens Blvd., south side, 100 feet east of Woodhaven Blvd.
