Out of the past the future grows

Caption: "Out of the past the future grows--From a century-old engraving, a scene on old Brooklyn Heights -- the Penny Bridge at the foot of Montague St., with old-fashioned street lamps and an old-fashioned Brooklyn burgher on horseback. The Penny Bridge has now given way to progress in the form of the new Brooklyn Heights Esplanade, part of the expanding Civic Center improvements."
