Newtown - Remsen House - Rego Park
Remsen House - View of the north side of the Abraham Remsen House at Hempstead Swamp. It was located on the east side of Trotting Course Lane, north of Metropolitan Ave. (Woodhaven Blvd.), almost opposite Cooper Ave. The house was gone by August 1925 to build row houses. Abraham Remsen and his family built this house circa 1700. The family burial ground was to the south of the house. The house also served many years in the 19th Century as the Weeden Home, and later the Kinsey House. The Pennsylvania Railroad bought it in the 1920s just before intense development of Queens.
