Newtown - Remsen House - Rego Park
Remsen House - View of the west front and south side of the Remsen House, on the east side of Trotting Course Lane, opposite Cooper Ave., about a block north of Metropolitan Ave. Abraham Remsen settled here circa 1700 (d.1752), Jeromus Remsen Sr. bought his father's farm in 1735, and died here in 1781. His son Col. Jeromus Remsen (1735-1790) also lived here. It was the Weeden Homestead circa 1835-1860s, then the Kinsey family and related Leibrock family lived here. Occupied in 1923 by John Wolfert, and owned by Pennsylvania Railroad up to 1925. Newman, a builder, tore down the house in August 1925.
