Newtown - Moore House - Elmhurst

Moore House - A corner plot Broadway & Laurel Hill Blvd. (now 45th Ave.). The property comprised of 5 1/2 acres, Capt. Samuel Moore built the center section in 1666, Benjamin Moore enlarged it 1710, and Lt. Samuel Moore built the remainder in 1760. View shows the front of house as seen from 45th Avenue. The Moore family had the place until the 1860s, and then the Perry Family (decedents of the Moore's) had the homestead into the 1920s. It is the now Moore Homestead Playground in a smaller footprint.
