Manhattan: Park Avenue - 50th Street

(1)
Park Avenue, north from 50th Street, showing the center parks as
they were from about 1917 to 1927.
In the foreground, the Hotel Ambassador on the N.E. corner of 5lst Street is shown. From 52nd to 53rd Streets on the east side stands the Montans, one of the earlier modern apartment buildings, erected 1913 on the site of the old Steinway Piano
Factory.
Careful scrutiny of the N.E. corner of 53rd Street will show that a sriall building has just been demolished; an apartment house is to be erected. On the west side from 52nd to 53rd Streets is the Racquet and Tennis Club, and above it a block of small
builcings dating back to the 188C's.
