[Walt Whitman residence]

Image represented is one of a related set (PORT 0802), some of which may also be described in this new record; Two exterior views of a three-story, brick building with commercial establishments on the ground floor and apartments above, located at the intersection of Fulton Street and Cranberry Street, where poet Walt Whitman once lived. Inscription on 0803: "Southwest corner of Fulton and Cranberry St[reet]s where Walt Whitman tablet is located [and] where 'Leaves of Grass' was first printed." 0802 shows a candy store on the ground floor and a parked automobile in the right foreground. 0803 shows a restaurant and a fruit and vegetable market on the ground floor and a fire hydrant in the right foreground.. Both images show a barber shop on the ground floor, right, and a street light with street signs attached in the foreground. Note: At the time of cataloging, Fulton Street and Cranberry Street do not intersect.
