1220 to 123O Sixth Avenue, at adjoining and north of the N.E. corner of W. 48th Steet. All of these structures appear in View 1 whle No.2 shows only three, No's. 1220 to 1224.
At the rear of these buildings the R.K.O. Center Theatre is being erected. The Sixth Avenue "El" line in April 1939 will have disappeared and the brownstone buildings at this site ready for demolition. The New York Times of April 3, 1939 reports the immediate erection of a 20 story Rockefeller Center structure on this site, same cousummating this vast midtown comnercial and amusement center which started in 1931.
Occupancy is scheduled for March 1, 1940. An interesting feature will be the overlapping of the new building at the 8th floor on the steel work of the Center Theatre. The theatre was
constructed with this provison in mind.
