Manhattan: Irving Place - 17th Street (East)
47-49 Irving Place, at and adjoining the S.W. corner of East 17th Street. The corner building; No. 49 with its entrance on 17th Street, was supposed to have been the residence of Washington Irving and is popularly known as the Washington Irving HIouse. The Washington Irving Hlgh School for Girls, across Irving Place (east side between 16th and 17th Streets), erected a commemorative bust of Washington Irving in 1936, which faces this
landmark.
