Water Supply Commission. York Hill Receiving Reservoir, Sluice Gates. Before 1842. The brick portion of the Old Croton Aqueduct terminated at the location where it connected to the receiving reservoir at 85th Street and Sixth Avenue, 38 miles from the dam in Westchester County. The flow of water into the reservoir was controlled by turning the levers to raise and lower the sluice gates.
