Fire, Accidents and Tragedies. An Elevated Railroad accident at Ninth Avenue and West 53rd Street. Twelve were killed and forty-eight injured. The photo-grapher is viewing eastward along the 53rd Street spur that joined the Sixth Avenue line to the Ninth Avenue. This was demolished in 1939.
