Newtown - Dr. Combes Sanitarium - Flushing

Dr. Combes Sanitarium - view north from 37th Ave. to the rear of the sanitarium, located on south side of Northern Blvd. and east side of 114th St. (old Peartree Ave.). Dr. R.C.F. Combes formerly had his sanitarium on the west side of Woodhaven Blvd. south of Myrtle Ave., but the land was taken in 1895 for the creation of Forest Park. He purchased here in 1896. Dr. Combes died in 1915, and his brother Dr. Abbott C. Combes of Elmhurst took over. Photo taken May 1923.
