GRAC1E MAiSI0N EastEnd Avenue and last 35th Street, Manhattan. Built in the Federal style aoout 1799 on the site of a revolutionary fort, it was the country home of Archibald Gracie, shipping merchant and a director of Ihe dank of New York. Ihe house was completely restored in 1927, and until 1932 it housed the kuseum of the City of New York. It became the official mayor's residence in 1942 during
Fioeello LaBuardia's third term.
