Public School 73 ARCHITECT: James W. Naughton DATE: 1888, 1895 STYLE: Italianate Palazzo, French Second Empire, Romanesque Revival An impressive brick and stone structure, P.S. 73 is an excellent example of nineteenth-century school architecture by one of the major practitioners in that field, James W. Naughton, superintendent of buildings for the Board of Education. The school was built in two sections, the first in 1888 and an extension in 1895. The structure has a number of architectural references to earlier styles, including Italianate palazzo, French Second Empire, and Romanesque Revival.

Public School 137 Brooklyn, ca. 1900. This C.B.J Snyder-built school was completed circa 1905. Today it still stands and is named for Rachel Jean Mitchell, a local mother, President of the Community School Board for District 23, and advocate for PTAs in all of Brooklyn District 23 schools.
